Live & Performance

Ein großer Teil von Jakob Hütters Praxis entsteht seit über zwanzig Jahren in Echtzeit — als Live-Visuals, VJing und Event-Bespielung, generativ in TouchDesigner und in direkter Reaktion auf Klang, Bewegung und Publikum.

A large part of Jakob Hütter’s practice has emerged in real time for over twenty years — as live visuals, VJing and event imagery, generated in TouchDesigner and responding directly to sound, movement and audience.

Clubs & Festivals

Über die Jahre kamen unzählige Club-Nächte und Festivals zusammen — Live-Visuals u. a. für Carl Cox, Kruder & Dorfmeister, The Prodigy, Vitalic, Extrawelt, I Hate Models, Venetian Snares, Camo & Crooked, Joyce Muniz, Rampa (Keinemusik) und John Newman; an Orten wie der Arena Wien, dem Flucc, der Marx Halle oder dem Dom im Berg und auf Festivals wie Soundframe, Electric Spring, Urban Art Forms, Flow Festival oder Popfest Wien. Over the years, countless club nights and festivals have come together — live visuals for Carl Cox, Kruder & Dorfmeister, The Prodigy, Vitalic, Extrawelt, I Hate Models, Venetian Snares, Camo & Crooked, Joyce Muniz, Rampa (Keinemusik) and John Newman, among others; at venues such as Arena Wien, Flucc, Marx Halle or Dom im Berg and at festivals such as Soundframe, Electric Spring, Urban Art Forms, Flow Festival or Popfest Wien. The following examples are only an excerpt.

The Polygon Setup was the real Kickoff of the handmitauge and bigger standing in the community. By several happy accidents we got the wood, the unfold techniques and the laser-cutting connection before producing a stage design for an event in dornbirn, for tristan heltschl and his crew. After the event, we got asked more more and more for custom stage designs and setups. And we installed this polygon for like 30 times, produced new objects. The Objects series is a huge chapter in my story, beginning in 2011 before moving on from form to content again in roughly 2016. For me form and content belong together.

Red Bull Back2Beyond — Gent (2024)

Für die belgische Ausgabe von Red Bull Back2Beyond (Eskimofabriek, Gent) entwickelte Jakob Hütter das generative Echtzeit-Visualsetup und das See-through-LED-Ring-Konzept — drei spiegelgleich angesteuerte Ringe über kreisförmig angeordneten DJ-Booths, gerendert auf zwei zu einem Server zusammengefassten RTX-4090-Mini-PCs.

Red Bull Back2Beyond — Gent (2024)

For the Belgian edition of Red Bull Back2Beyond (Eskimofabriek, Gent), Jakob Hütter developed the generative real-time visual setup and the see-through LED-ring concept — three mirror-synced rings above circularly arranged DJ booths, rendered on two RTX 4090 mini-PCs combined into a single server.

Hangar-7 Reopening — Salzburg (2025)

Zum Reopening des Red Bull Hangar-7 verantwortete Jakob Hütter zwei Spuren: eine generative digitale Skulptur auf einer LED-Fläche über Boden und Wand — ein autorisiertes künstlerisches Werk — sowie die Live-Visuals für mehrere Acts (u. a. Rampa, John Newman).

Hangar-7 Reopening — Salzburg (2025)

For the reopening of the Red Bull Hangar-7, Jakob Hütter was responsible for two tracks: a generative digital sculpture on an LED surface across floor and wall — an authored artistic work — and the live visuals for several acts (incl. Rampa, John Newman).

Parallel Vienna — Otto-Wagner-Theater (2025)

Für die Parallel Vienna realisierte Hand mit Auge eine Videoinstallation im Otto-Wagner-Theater: vier halbtransparente Voile-Stoffe, im Zickzack gehängt und mit vier 10.000-Lumen-Projektoren bespielt — tagsüber eine generative Lichtinstallation, an den Abenden Live-Visuals.

Parallel Vienna — Otto-Wagner-Theater (2025)

For Parallel Vienna, Hand mit Auge realised a video installation in the Otto-Wagner-Theater: four semi-transparent voile fabrics hung in a zigzag and driven by four 10,000-lumen projectors — a generative light installation by day, live visuals in the evenings.
